Substack and its Power of Networking

How it landed me first testimonial on LinkedIn and a pledged subscription on Substack!!

I started my journey on Substack 10 months ago. I was transitioning into the field of writing and editing and thought of trying my hand at writing creatively. After posting a few stories, my friends and family members did support me by liking the stories but I failed to gather subscribers. Slowly I lost interest in substack.

Last month I got introduced to pre-released chapters of “Substack Mastery” (You can now purchase the e-book by clicking on this link here) (The link of paper back is here) through a fellow writer Ana J (Yoga enthusiast and Life Coach). The book caught my attention with its conversational tone and the minutest features I did not know before.

I found a few areas of improvement in the narration and got in touch with its author Dr. Mehmet Yildiz. I did not have any expectation of getting a response back, but I did! He also connected with me on LinkedIn and asked me to tell him in detail about my Beta Reading feedback.

He recognized my skills and entrusted me with the responsibility of proofreading the entire manuscript. I could not believe this opportunity hence I put my best foot forward to do my job. Dr. Mehmet took the effort of even writing a testimonial for me on LinkedIn to enhance my work profile. He became a follower of my newsletters on both Medium and Substack. He also pledged his support in Substack for $8!!.

All the efforts taken by him to highlight my work across multiple platforms have boosted my morale and inspired me to produce valuable content on Substack. I want to follow his advice in creating valuable content consistently and recommending fellow writers to ensure more visibility of their good work through my writings in future.

Getting recognised by a person of his stature has given me new confidence. His book has given a new direction to my approach towards Substack and LinkedIn.
